Yeah…..I no there is nothing much to boast about this, but my bro got one from London and I did kaand (experiment) on it …so a first hand experience… (Don’t talk about the built quality because even I have a Finland handset)
(Nokia n96 — I had the mindset of this being a piece of shit due to the absence of some hardware and other stuff)—but I have completely changed my mind after the comparison…
Don’t ask for exact time duration because I didn’t use the clock just estimation
(Talking about the start-up time)
Nokia n96
++++++
Navi wheel
Excellent sound quality via headset
Reasonable through the speaker (comparable to the n95)
Excellent gps
Useless dvb-h TV (s service not present in India—although trial version is there in the capital city)
Fresh new fp2
24 GB of memory space
————-
Downgraded battery
And processor (269 MHz)
Poor camera focal length
Nokia n95 8 GB (our uncrowned king)
+++++++++++
Graphic hardware accelerator
Better screen quality (I literally mean way better)
Better processor (339 MHz)
Better battery (1200 mah)
——————
Low sound thru earphones
Creaky body (shaky and unstable)
Man to man talk
———————–
NOKIA N96 : excellent stereo output
NOKIA N95 8GB: AVERAGE QUALITY SOUND OUTPUT
NOKIA N96 : nice screen but no comparison to the n95
NOKIA N95 8GB: way better screen
NOKIA N96 : navi wheel (although I wasn’t able to use it at all in any of the application—no not even gallery or music player)
////by the way I am quite a freak about gadget and them inside out…so I no what I am talking///
NOKIA N95 8GB: no navi wheel
NOKIA N96 : stand present to support the handset to watch movies or TV
NOKIA N95 8GB: not present
NOKIA N96 :dvb-h TV watching hardware(useless to most of us anyways)
NOKIA N95 8GB: absent
NOKIA N96 :s60 v3 fp3 (this is what makes the major difference between the two, I will come to that later)…………..also it’s new and with cool menu transitions
NOKIA N95 8GB: s60 v3 fp1…..yeah ya. I know we can put the transition in the n95 also but it’s no comparison from the one that comes pre loaded and is very very sluggish
NOKIA N96 : sound is good (external) speaker are placed in a way to help TV or movie viewing
(On a single side) nice while watching but…………….
NOKIA N95 8GB:speakers are placed on both the sides which provides a true 3d effect…yes it really is quite good..
NOW LETS TALK ABOUT THE SPEED AND THE BULK MEMORY AND ITS EFFECTS
Any fool will tell that less processor speeds will result in memory lag …blah blah blah…
NOW THE MOVEMENT OF TRUTH
(This is where ====FP2===== comes into picture)
Alright the n95 has 8 GB
N96 has more than 24 gb (extendible)
1) During shutdown the n95 was faster
2) During start up time, my n95 sucked it was way way too much slower than the n96
3) Also the starting of applications, the camera and the menu all were faster in the n96 (by this I am not saying the n95 was SLOWER)
4) Picture capture equalled out in both…
5) In camera n95 was the clear winner … no room for competition here…
6) Okay while video capture n95 lagged like hell, during the initial capture than the capture was smooth…
N96 was makkhan (butter) from the start…
7) Both are dual sliders…okay…but the in addition to music button the n96 has dedicated ngage gaming key. Which is absent in n95…considered if you are a gamer… useless for me…
Cool Dual flash in the NOKIA N96 doesn’t make any big difference in the picture quality… but does play a very extremely large role during video recording…
okay (it may be due to the firmware but it is present) and brightens up the video instead of n95 providing the fucking lame red light and also the dual led can be used as a torch light…
9) The firmware compensates for the slower processor (which consumes less battery power) and the n96 showed no lag in the entire operation…..
10) N95 has an inbuilt 3d graphic accelerator chip, which is absent in n96…so the spmark showed a highly extensive difference…
Score……n96 “670″ <>>>n95 “5600″…..which is +-500…
Okay but this wont make any difference unless you play ngage or any other high graphic requirement application…….not used for me till now….
10) Now the battery part, n95…1200 mah… ooohhh that’s a big juicy battery ….think again…isi t so???
N96 something around 960 mah….hmmm….now the worst part comes….
Although the battery is more in capacity the firmware sp2 and the processor highly compensates for it….
THE BLINKING LED IS ABSENT IN MY PHONE WHICH DRAINS THE WHOLE OF THE BATTERY OVER NIGHT…..WHEREAS N96 DPAD GLOWS WITH WHITE LIGHT TURNING THE POWER CONSUMING SCREEN OFF RESULTING IN BETTER BATTERY MANAGEMENT….
YOU WILL NOTICE THAT THE WHOLE REVIEW TAKES US TO THE N96
NOW THE PART WHICH MAKES YOU GO AWAY FROM THE N96 IS:
1) VERY HEFTY PRICE TAG…
2) AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT MAKES A SMARTPHONE A SMARTPHONE IS …….ITS HACKABLE………LOL…Smile
OKAY GUYS THAT’S ALL FOR NOW…. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT REGARDING THE PHONE OR DECESION IN BUYING AND SELECTING ONE FEEL FREE TO ask ANY QUERY … THANKS…….
HOPE YOU LIKE MY EFFORT … SPENT A WHOLE NIGHT WRITING THE REVIEW AND SORRY FOR THE MISTAKES IN THE LANGUAGE…..
